Madhuri Kumar, Esq. is a founding partner at J&K Law. She has nearly a decade of experience working in business immigration law, advising corporate clients, emerging growth companies and individuals in a wide range of industries, including Information Technology, Finance, Healthcare, Management Consulting and Design with their immigrations needs. She regularly counsels clients regarding temporary employment-based non-immigrant visas, including H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, and immigrant visas, including E-1, E-2, and E-3 and permanent residence sponsorship for their foreign national employees. Madhuri also has extensive experience representing individuals in family-based applications and naturalization.
Prior to founding J&K Law, Madhuri was a partner at a reputable law firm in New York where she worked for five years, gaining extensive experience in immigration law.
From 2012 – 2015, Madhuri also worked as the Project Director for the Immigrant Child Legal Services Project for UnLocal, a non-profit organization whose mission is to represent the undocumented immigrant community. As a Project Director, she represented undocumented youth in their Special Immigrant Juvenile cases. Madhuri continues to provide pro bono services to UnLocal.
In 2017, Madhuri was featured in Forbes as one of the Top Five Immigration Lawyers who specialize in Startups.
Madhuri received her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and her J.D. from the nation’s top Public Interest Law School, City University of New York School of Law. Madhuri received a coveted fellowship at Yale University Law School with the National Litigation Project, representing Guantanamo clients with their habeas petitions. During her time at CUNY Law School, Madhuri was a clinician at the highly reputed Immigrant and Refugee clinic where she represented indigent immigrant clients.
Madhuri is admitted to practice law in New York State and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is fluent in Hindi and Urdu.
